Carico Lake Turquoise Ring

This beautiful specimen is believed to be Carico Lake Turquoise due to its similarity to other specimens from that area. Though I can’t be totally sure, this piece of turquoise has been in my collection for many many years. The old sale sticker on the back of the stone was probably pre 1980s. I have picked it up and admired it and stashed it away for over ten years, waiting to grace enough to set it. Probably purchased by Harry Tom Dickenson during his travels for his private collection or for resale in his rock shop that he briefly ran before I was born. OR my father Ron Dickenson purchased it long ago to add to my collection of turquoise.

Turquoise has a mohs hardness of 5-6. I don’t suggest a big fist fight with this ring on. Also protecting the stone from harsh chemicals and other such things are why you don’t see me wearing turquoise rings on the regular as daily wear… (life of a silversmith… not a professional brawler). The stone is characterized by a brown matrix around the edges with a rare beautiful lake green and blue center with a free form shape.

Carico Lake Turquoise is mined in Lander County Nevada, named after a dry lake bed. It is rare due to the harsh conditions and remote area of the mine.

The ring is sterling silver in a size 9. Makes an excellent statement ring. 30mmX25mm

Stone and setting sit at a height of 10mm. Ring shank is 4.5mm wide. Ring shank is marked with a makers mark of ALLIDA and the year 25.

This ring makes for an excellent addition to any wardrobe and is truly one of a kind, as unique as the natural turquoise it holds.
